What is Dalbitam?
Dalbitam (달빛암, "Moonlit Hermitage") is a 3D online temple modeled on the mountain temples of Korea. It is a quiet place to pause, pray or simply listen. You enter with a temple name, and you will see other visitors who are there right now. You can greet them, bow together and send a short blessing.
The sounds come from real Korean temples: the moktak, the evening service with bell, wooden fish and cloud gong, mountain streams and the sea.
Things to do at the online temple
Strike the moktak
Tap the wooden moktak and let each sound settle one thought.
108 bows
Bow 108 times in the main hall. Finish and your wish lantern lights up.
Wish lanterns
Write a wish on a lotus lantern and hang it over the courtyard for everyone to see.
Ring the temple bell
Strike the great bronze bell, modeled from a 3D scan of a real Korean temple bell.
Roof tile wishes
Write your wish on a roof tile (giwa), just as visitors do at temples in Korea.
Meditate and chant
Sit for ten breaths in a stone grotto, turn prayer beads or follow a chant with romanized text.
Places to explore
Beyond the main hall (Daeungjeon) and the stone pagoda, paths lead to the mountain spirit shrine, the Seven Stars hall, a stone grotto inspired by Seokguram, a sutra library inspired by Janggyeong Panjeon, a lotus pond inspired by Wolji, Moonlight Peak and a lantern path down to the sea.
